# MCP (Model Context Protocol)

## Definition

MCP is CoreStory's retrieval interface for agents: instead of prompt stuffing or brittle RAG over raw files, agents retrieve structured organizational context at inference time through MCP. The target direction is a **semantic routing and grounding system** — not merely a retrieval endpoint.

## Key properties

- Current bootstrap pattern includes a CoreStory MCP endpoint + llms.corestory.ai as lightweight onboarding

- Future MCP architecture should expose: ontology-aware retrieval, lifecycle-aware filtering, trust-aware retrieval, environment-scoped context, contradiction-aware inference, provenance-aware responses
